Nov-01-2025 PST

I noticed that some of you had questions about the Haunted Mine quest, specifically on how to get the Salve Shard and craft the Salve Amulet. Well, today I'm going to walk you through the entire process of creating and upgrading the Salve Amulet, one of the most powerful items you can use against undead monsters in Old School RuneScape (OSRS). So, let's dive right in!

Crafting and Upgrading the Salve Amulet Guide in OSRS

About the Salve Amulet

The Salve Amulet is an essential piece of equipment for anyone planning to fight undead monsters in OSRS. This amulet increases your combat effectiveness, providing significant boosts to your melee, ranged, and magic accuracy and damage. There are four different versions of the Salve Amulet, each more powerful than the last:

1.Salve Amulet: Increases melee accuracy and damage by 15% against undead.

2.Salve Amulet (e): Increases melee accuracy and damage by 20% after being enchanted with Tarn’s Diary.

3.Salve Amulet (i): Increases melee, ranged, and magic accuracy and damage by 15% after being imbued.

4.Salve Amulet (ei): Increases melee, ranged, and magic accuracy and damage by 20% after being both enchanted and imbued.

To maximize your combat potential, you'll want to upgrade your Salve Amulet to its most powerful form, the Salve Amulet (ei). But first, let's start with how to craft the basic Salve Amulet.

How to Obtain the Salve Shard

Before you can craft the Salve Amulet, you'll need to obtain a Salve Shard, which can be found in the Haunted Mine. Here’s how to get it:

Entering the Haunted Mine

1.Location: The Haunted Mine is located in Morytania, near the town of Mort'ton. To access the mine, you'll need to have started the Haunted Mine quest.

2.Fairy Ring Teleport: The quickest way to reach the Haunted Mine is by using the Fairy Ring teleport code BIP. This code will take you near the mine entrance.

3.Requirements: To enter the mine, you must have an Agility level of at least 15. Ensure you have a Chisel and a Ball of Wool in your inventory, as these will be necessary later on.

Navigating the Haunted Mine

Once inside the Haunted Mine, you’ll need to navigate through the various tunnels to reach the location where the Salve Shard is found. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1.Crawl Through the Tunnels: After entering the mine, you'll need to crawl through a series of cart tunnels. Look for the tunnel adjacent to the mine carts and follow it to the next area.

2.Avoiding Traps: Be cautious as you navigate the mine. There are traps that can deal damage if you're not careful. Keep an eye out for any suspicious-looking floor tiles.

3.Reaching the Salve Shard: Continue deeper into the mine until you reach a large cavern. In this area, you’ll find the Salve Shard embedded in the rock. Use your Chisel on the Salve Shard to extract it.

Crafting the Basic Salve Amulet

With the Salve Shard in your possession, it’s time to craft the basic Salve Amulet:

-Use the Salve Shard on the Ball of Wool: Simply use the Salve Shard on the Ball of Wool in your inventory. This action will transform the Salve Shard into the basic Salve Amulet.

Now that you have your Salve Amulet, you’re ready to start upgrading it!

Upgrading the Salve Amulet

Salve Amulet (e)

The first upgrade is to enchant your Salve Amulet into a Salve Amulet (e), which provides a 20% boost to melee accuracy and damage against undead monsters. To do this, you’ll need Tarn’s Diary:

1.Complete the Tarn's Lair Miniquest: To obtain Tarn’s Diary, you must first complete the Tarn's Lair miniquest. This miniquest becomes available after completing the Haunted Mine quest.

2.Accessing Tarn’s Lair: Tarn's Lair is located in the Dungeon of Tarn's Lair, which can be accessed through a trapdoor in the Haunted Mine.

3.Navigating the Dungeon: The dungeon is filled with various traps and undead monsters. Be prepared with combat gear and food. Your goal is to find and defeat Tarn Razorlor, the final boss of the miniquest.

4.Obtaining Tarn’s Diary: After defeating Tarn Razorlor, you’ll find Tarn’s Diary on a table in the same room. Pick it up, and then use it on your Salve Amulet to enchant it, transforming it into a Salve Amulet (e).

Salve Amulet (i)

To further enhance your Salve Amulet (e), you can imbue it to create the Salve Amulet (i), which grants bonuses to melee, ranged, and magic accuracy and damage:

1.Imbue the Amulet: There are two primary methods to imbue your Salve Amulet (e):

Nightmare Zone: Accumulate 800,000 Nightmare Zone points, which can be earned by participating in Nightmare Zone minigames. Once you have enough points, use them to imbue your Salve Amulet (e).

Soul Wars: Alternatively, you can use 320 Zeal Tokens obtained from the Soul Wars minigame to imbue your Salve Amulet (e).

2.Result: Once imbued, your Salve Amulet (e) will be transformed into a Salve Amulet (i), which retains the 15% boost but now applies it to all combat styles.

Salve Amulet (ei)

Finally, to create the ultimate undead-slaying amulet, you’ll want to enchant your Salve Amulet (i) with Tarn’s Diary, transforming it into a Salve Amulet (ei):

1.Repeat the Enchantment Process: If you haven't already used Tarn's Diary, simply use it on your Salve Amulet (i) to create the Salve Amulet (ei).

2.Result: The Salve Amulet (ei) provides a 20% boost to melee, ranged, and magic accuracy and damage against undead monsters, making it the best amulet for fighting undead in the game.

And there you have it! You've successfully crafted and upgraded the Salve Amulet to its most powerful form, the Salve Amulet (ei). This amulet is invaluable when taking on undead monsters in OSRS, whether you're slaying Barrows Brothers, fighting Skeletal Wyverns, or taking on the Corporeal Beast.
