The Future of the Two-Handed Axe in Forestry
Sep-27-2023 PSTWelcome to our comprehensive guide on the future of the Two-Handed Axe in forestry. In this informative piece, we will delve deep into the intricacies and advantages of wielding this formidable axe. Rest assured, we've taken into account recent discussions and feedback to ensure that this reward strikes the perfect balance between challenge and excitement. So, without further ado, let's embark on this journey of understanding before its anticipated release!
Obtaining the Two-Handed Axe
To forge your very own Two-Handed Axe, you'll need to collect 6,000 units of Anima-Infused Bark. Once you've gathered this valuable resource, you can acquire a Felling Axe Handle. With this handle in hand, you're equipped to craft a Two-Handed Axe by combining it with one of the following axe types: Bronze, Iron, Steel, Black, Mithril, Adamant, Rune, Dragon, Crystal, or 3rd Age. It's essential to note that this process is irreversible, but both the Felling Axe Handle and all Two-Handed Axes are tradable via the Grand Exchange.
Utilizing the Two-Handed Axe
Once you possess the Two-Handed Axe and meet the required level to wield it (equivalent to the current Axe Tiers), you're ready to embark on your tree-chopping endeavors. The Two-Handed Axe chops at the same speed as a regular axe, with one significant advantage: it enables you to gain more experience while collecting fewer logs.
This remarkable feature of the Two-Handed Axe is activated by expending your run energy. Each "successful" chop, where you obtain a log, consumes 40 run energy points. In return, you receive a 20% experience boost for each successful hit on the tree, accompanied by a 20% chance of not receiving a log.
Forester's Rations
To sustain the energy cost associated with using the Two-Handed Axe, you'll need to rely on Forester's Rations. These rations effectively replenish 20 energy points with every swing while you're using the Two-Handed Axe.
You will continue to chop trees between the 4th and 5th swings until your inventory is full, your rations run out, or you decide to pause your chopping and restore your run energy.
The rations are automatically consumed from your Forestry Kit, eliminating the need for manual consumption. It's important to note that you can still use the Two-Handed Axe even if you lack sufficient run energy, but you won't receive the energy-saving benefits.
Rations Improvement
In response to valuable player feedback, we've implemented significant changes to the rations system. The previous crafting process was deemed tedious and time-consuming, which lessened the appeal of rations. To address this, we've introduced the following enhancements:
Expanded Options: In addition to cooked meat, players can now use various types of cooked fish to craft rations, providing more flexibility in the crafting process.
Scaling Rations: The number of rations produced now depends on the type of cooked fish or meat used and the leaf type. This change aims to make better use of the leaves collected from trees. Here's the breakdown:
Normal Leaves: 2 Rations
Oak Leaves: 4 Rations
Willow Leaves: 6 Rations
Maple Leaves: 8 Rations
Yew Leaves: 10 Rations
Magic Leaves: 12 Rations
Additional Benefit: The tier of fish used in combination with the leaves also offers an extra benefit, as follows:
Level 1-33 Fish: 1x Rations
Level 34-69 Fish or Cooked Meat: 2x Rations
Level 70-99 Fish: 3x Rations
For instance, combining Oak Leaves with a Cooked Herring will yield 4 Rations with each interaction, while using Magic Leaves and Cooked Shark will produce a substantial 36 Rations per interaction.
With these changes, players can now create up to 972 Rations per inventory at the highest tier, ensuring an ample supply for hours of uninterrupted tree chopping. These adjustments are intended to make the Two-Handed Axe more approachable, given its unique mechanics.
Trade-off and Benefits
Using the Two-Handed Axe comes with a trade-off: you gain increased experience while receiving fewer logs. This trade-off ultimately saves you time when chopping trees. It's important to note that the reduced energy drain effect from Stamina Potions will not apply to the Two-Handed Axe. Nevertheless, most in-game areas should still provide sufficient energy to bank and return to your chopping activities.
