Safe Spotting Blue Dragons Guide in Old School RuneScape

Introduction to Safe Spotting Blue Dragons

Blue Dragons are a popular Slayer task in OSRS, offering solid experience in both Slayer and Ranged, along with valuable drops like Dragon Bones and Blue Dragonhide. However, without the proper setup, taking on these beasts can be challenging due to their high damage output, especially from their dragonfire attack. This is where safe spotting comes in handy, allowing you to kill them efficiently without taking any damage.

Why Safe Spot in the Ogre Enclave?

The Ogre Enclave, located near Castle Wars, is an ideal location for safe spotting Blue Dragons. One of the primary reasons this spot stands out is that it's relatively unknown, making it a quiet and often deserted area. This ensures that you'll have uninterrupted access to the Blue Dragons, maximizing your experience and loot.

Getting to the Ogre Enclave

To reach the Ogre Enclave, you have a couple of options:

1.Castle Wars Teleport: The easiest way is to use the Castle Wars minigame teleport. From there, head south and then east until you reach the entrance to the Ogre Enclave. This route is straightforward and efficient.

2.Nightmare Zone Teleport: If you prefer, you can teleport to the Nightmare Zone and then head southwest to the Ogre Enclave. This route is slightly longer but still effective.

Once you're near the enclave, follow the path around to the entrance. The route is simple, and once you’re there, you’re just a few steps away from safe spotting Blue Dragons.

Equipment and Inventory Setup

Gear Recommendations

For safe spotting Blue Dragons, your primary focus should be on Ranged gear. Here’s a recommended setup:

Weapon: Toxic Blowpipe is the best option due to its rapid attacks and poison effect. However, a Magic Shortbow with Rune or Amethyst Arrows works well too.

Armor: Blessed Dragonhide for high Ranged attack and defense bonuses.

Amulet: Amulet of Fury or Amulet of Glory for a balance of offensive and defensive stats.

Ring: Archer's Ring (i) or Ring of Dueling for quick access to Castle Wars bank.

Boots: Pegasian Boots or Blessed Dragonhide Boots for added Ranged accuracy.

Cape: Ava's Assembler for additional Ranged bonuses and the ability to retrieve arrows.

Shield: Anti-dragon Shield is not necessary due to safe spotting, but you can bring it if you feel cautious.

Inventory Setup

Ranging Potions: Bring a couple of Ranging Potions to boost your Ranged level and increase damage output.

Food: A few pieces of food (e.g., Shark or Monkfish) in case you take damage while setting up the safe spot.

Teleport: Ring of Dueling for quick access to the bank at Castle Wars.

Bones and Hides: Space to collect Dragon Bones and Blue Dragonhide, which are the primary drops you’ll want to bank.

Setting Up the Safe Spot

Entering the Ogre Enclave

Once you’ve arrived at the entrance to the Ogre Enclave, open the gate and head inside. The Blue Dragons are located deeper within the dungeon, so proceed carefully. You’ll notice that there are about four Blue Dragons in this area. We’re going to focus on the one closest to the entrance to set up the safe spot.

Finding the Safe Spot

Safe spotting in the Ogre Enclave is straightforward once you know where to stand. Here’s how to do it:

1.Positioning: Stand in between two tiles near the dragon’s spawn point. This location ensures that when you attack the dragon, it will become stuck behind the terrain, unable to reach you.

2.Marking Tiles: To make safe spotting easier, you can mark the tiles where you need to stand. To do this, hold down the Shift key, right-click on the desired tile, and select "Mark Tile." This will help you remember the exact spots for safe spotting each time you return.

3.Attacking: With your Ranged gear equipped and Ranging Potions active, attack the Blue Dragon. Immediately run back to the marked safe spot tiles. The dragon will attempt to move towards you but will get stuck behind the terrain, unable to attack you.

4.Respawn Time: The Blue Dragon will respawn quickly after being killed, so you can rinse and repeat this process efficiently. If you’re worried about the dragon getting too close, you can run to a nearby column for additional safety before returning to the safe spot.

Collecting Drops

Once the dragon is dead, you can safely step out to collect the drops. Dragon Bones are highly valuable for Prayer training, and Blue Dragonhide is useful for crafting or selling. If your inventory fills up, use a Ring of Dueling to teleport back to Castle Wars, bank your loot, and return to the Ogre Enclave.

Why the Ogre Enclave?

You might wonder why this spot is superior to other Blue Dragon locations, like Taverley Dungeon or the Resource Dungeon in the Heroes' Guild. Here’s why:

Low Traffic: The Ogre Enclave is often deserted, giving you uninterrupted access to the dragons.

Ease of Access: The proximity to Castle Wars for banking makes it convenient to store your loot and return quickly.

Efficient Kills: The layout of the area makes it easy to set up a safe spot, ensuring you take no damage and can kill the dragons quickly.

Final Thoughts

Safe spotting Blue Dragons in the Ogre Enclave is a highly efficient method for completing your Slayer task while also raking in valuable loot. The ease of access, low competition, and safe spots make this one of the best locations for Blue Dragon hunting.

If you haven’t tried this method yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s a great way to train Ranged and Slayer simultaneously while making some decent gold on the side. Plus, the calm and quiet environment makes the grind more enjoyable.
