Most of the fishing spots around RuneScape have five types of catching techniques, Net or Bait, Lure or Bait, Cate or Harpoon, Net or Harpoon. The Harpoon or Net technique is unlocked after the completion of the Swan Song quest. These techniques require you to have either a Small Fishing Net, Big Fishing Net, Fishing Rod, Cage, or a Harpoon to catch.

Net (Small) or Bait Spots

The fishes that you can catch through these techniques are Shrimps (Net), Anchovies (Net), Sardine (Bait), and Herring (Bait). You need level 1 in Fishing to utilize the Net Fishing technique and level 5 for the Bait Fishing Technique.

F2P Spots: Draynor Village, Lumbridge Swamp, Musa Point, Coastline near Rimmington, Bandit Camp, and Al Kharid. P2P Spots: Catherby, Entrana, Feldip Hills, Rellekka, Barbarian Outpost, and Fishing Platform.

Crayfish Cage Spots

The fish that you can catch through this technique is Crayfish. You need level 1 in Fishing to utilize the Crayfish Cage Fishing technique.

Lure or Bait Spots

The fishes that you can catch through these techniques are Trout (Lure), Salmon (Lure), Rainbow Fish (Stripy Feather, Lure), Pike (Bait), Desert sole (Bait), Catfish (Bait), Beltfish (Bait), Cavefish (Bait), and Rock Tail (Living Mineral, Lure). You need level 20 in Fishing to utilize the Lure Fishing technique and level 25 for the Bait Fishing Technique.

The fishes that you can catch through these techniques are Lobster (Cage), Tuna (Harpoon), and Swordfish (Harpoon). You need level 40 in Fishing to utilize the Cage Fishing technique and level 35 for the Harpoon Fishing Technique.

Net (Big) or Harpoon Spots

The fishes and items that you can catch through these techniques are Mackerel (Net), Cod (Net), Bass (Net), Casket (Net), Seaweed/armor/weapons/oysters, etc. (Net), Shark (Harpoon), and Great white shark (Harpoon). You need level 16 in Fishing to utilize the Net Fishing technique and level 76 for the Harpoon Fishing Technique.

Harpoon or Net (Small) Spots

Barbarian Fishing

There’s also a Barbarian Fishing spot next to Otto’s Grotto, where you can utilize the technique to catch Leaping fishes. Additionally, there are three other spots located at the Piscatoris Fishing Colony, where you can catch different types of fish. Besides that, there’s also the Ominous Fishing Spot at Mudskipper Point, but you can’t fish there.
