OSRS Summer Sweep-Up 2026 Guide: Key Changes You Need to Know

Jun-05-2026 PST

The June 4th, 2026 Summer Sweep-Up update brings massive changes to Old School RuneScape. This guide covers the most important adjustments to the Gauntlet, gear buffs and nerfs, Hunter training, Agility improvements, and the proposed Chambers of Xeric prayer scroll rework.

Part 1: Gauntlet and Corrupted Gauntlet Changes

The Gauntlet's prep phase has been significantly improved. Four demi-bosses now spawn at fixed locations (northeast, southwest, and most rooms from the center), though which demi-boss appears remains random. Their maximum attack range has dropped from 16 tiles to 10, preventing off-screen attacks.

Your first low-tier NPC kills now guarantee a weapon frame drop. Crystal ore, linum, and terranum are now stackable, eliminating inventory juggling. Crystal shards automatically go into your inventory with reduced drop variance, making kill counts more consistent.

New crystal shard costs:

Tier 1 weapon: 0 shards (down from 20)

Tier 2 weapon: 50 shards (down from 60)

Tier 1 armor piece: 50 shards (up from 40)

Tier 2 armor piece: 100 shards (up from 80)

Tier 3 armor piece: 100 shards (up from 80)

A full tier 3 armor set with two tier 3 weapons now costs 750 shards, up from 700. This prevents tier 3 from becoming mandatory. Weapon frames stop dropping once you have three total frames or crafted weapons.

Part 2: Other PVM Improvements

The Phantom Muspah and demonic gorillas now have a minimum number of player attacks before they can swap styles or prayers, preventing frustrating back-to-back changes. Scatizo's totem has a cooldown after destruction, and its arena is smaller. Lifesteal effects like Blood Fury and Sanguinesti Staff now work against the Wardens.

Chivalry's drain rate now matches Piety, Rigour, and Augury. Surge potion cooldown no longer resets on death in Chambers of Xeric, and Nightmare Zone progress no longer resets when leaving via the door.

Part 3: Chambers of Xeric Prayer Scroll Proposal

The developers are considering a reroll system for CoX uniques. When you obtain an Arcane prayer scroll, you could either withdraw it or reroll for a chance at another unique (with the scroll removed from that roll). If the reroll fails, the scroll is deleted.

This would increase the value of prayer scrolls, Dinh's Bulwark, and Twisted Buckler while slightly reducing other uniques. It gives mains a gambling option, ironmen a use for duplicates, and cloggers a chance at missing items.

Part 4: Major Gear Buffs

Sanguinesti Staff: Heal chance increases to 1 in 5 (from 1 in 6). It deals 8 extra damage on heal procs, base max hit rises by 1, and charge cost drops to 2 blood runes.

Soulreaper Axe: Strength bonus reaches 125 (up from 121). Each stack gives 10% damage (up from 6%), but stacks cap at 3 (down from 5). Same total damage with faster ramp-up.

Ghrazi Rapier and Blade of Saeldor: Both gain +6 accuracy and +4 strength, guaranteeing an extra max hit in all setups.

Pegasian Boots: Gain +1 Ranged Strength.

Master Wand and Ancient Sceptres: Gain 10% Magic Damage bonus.

Inquisitor Set (Major Rework): The set bonus is removed entirely. The mace gains +5 strength and +7 crush accuracy. The great helm gains +2 crush accuracy (now 10 total). The hauberk gains +4 crush accuracy (now 16 total) and +2 strength. These changes strongly suggest a crush-based raid is coming.

Part 5: Gear Nerfs

Burning Claws special attack energy rises to 35% (from 30%). In PvP only, the Eclipse Atlatl attacks one tick slower unless wearing the full set, and the Soulflame Horn's special attack provides 50 accuracy instead of 100.

Part 6: New Early Game Gear

Four elemental amulets (Air, Water, Earth, Fire) drop from specific monsters at 1 in 64 rates. Each provides +2 to its elemental max hit and +10 Magic accuracy. At 30 Runecraft, you can combine them into the Elemental Amulet for +2 to all elemental spells. The Necklace of Fangs (1 in 128 from Turoths) gives +1 Ranged Strength and +12 Ranged Accuracy, filling the gap before Anguish.

Part 7: Hunter Training Overhauls

Falconry: You can now move while the falcon chases prey and can catch kebbits with a full inventory (excess items discard except rumor items).

Aerial Fishing: Quick catch distance expands to 4x4 area. A toggle lets your cormorant eat fish from inventory when out of bait (forgoes cooking XP). Molch pearl chance increases by 50%; Fishing Sack costs 500 pearls (down from 1,000); angler pieces cost 50 each (down from 100).

Deadfall Traps: Trap limit doubles to 2 (except Maniacal Monkeys). Catch time drops to 8 ticks (4.8 seconds) from 15 ticks. Wild kebbit catch rate increases 2.5x for roughly 4x XP per hour. XP from kebbits and pyre foxes reduces 20%, but net gain is still 60% more XP per hour.

Two traps are placeable from level 1 Hunter. Butterfly and moth rumors improve to 1 in 40 drop rate (from 1 in 75) with an 80 pity rate (from 150).

Part 8: Agility Changes

Hallowed Sepulchre floor 4 requires level 77 (down from 82), floor 5 requires level 87 (down from 92). You can now boost for floor entry. The Colossal Wyrm course duration increases 25-30%, with XP and termites adjusted to match (same rates, fewer inputs).

New shortcuts include gaps at Draynor Manor (49), Edgeville (60), Arceuus Library (62), Sophanem (79), Mostly Harmless (82), and Piscatoris (83). Several grapple shortcuts become usable bare-handed at higher levels, including River Lum (48), Catherby-Taverly (68), Catherby obelisk (72), Yanille (69), and Karamja volcano (78).

Part 9: Other Notable Changes

Abyssal creature drop rates for essence pouches improve: Guardians to 1 in 8 (from 1 in 42), Walkers to 1 in 5 (from 1 in 42). Their defenses drop to zero. Energy potions now restore 15% per dose, use Guam instead of Harralander, and require level 10 Herblore. Quests fully restore run energy and cure poison.

The Abyssal Needle can be purchased for 750 pearls at Guardians of the Rift. The Abyssal Lantern works outside the minigame. The Fish Barrel and Tackle Box cost 6,000 Spirit Flakes each at Tempoross.

Final Summary

Prioritize the new Gauntlet for faster, more consistent prep runs. Upgrade to the buffed Sanguinesti Staff and Soulreaper Axe if you own them. Re-evaluate your Inquisitor gear—it no longer needs the full set. Train Hunter with the massively improved deadfall traps and aerial fishing. Take advantage of lower Sepulchre requirements and new shortcuts. If you need extra OSRS gold to afford these upgrades, you can buy OSRS gold from Rsgoldfast. The crush raid hinted by Inquisitor changes may be your next major goal.
