OSRS Romeo & Juliet Task Guide
Apr-07-2026 PSTOld School RuneScape (OSRS) features many classic quests that introduce players to the world of Gielinor, and one of the most memorable early-game adventures is the Romeo & Juliet quest. Inspired by the famous Shakespearean tragedy, this quest sends players across the city of Varrock to reunite two lovers who have been separated by family conflict. While it is one of the shortest quests in the game, it can be confusing for new players who are unfamiliar with the locations and NPCs involved. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to complete the OSRS Romeo & Juliet task quickly and easily.

Quest Requirements
One of the reasons the Romeo & Juliet quest is so popular among beginners is that it has no skill requirements and no combat requirements. This means that even brand-new players can complete it right after arriving in Varrock. There are also no item requirements, which makes it extremely accessible compared to many other OSRS quests.
However, having a few coins for travel or teleport runes can speed things up slightly, especially if you want to move around Varrock faster.
Starting the Quest
To begin the quest, head to Varrock Square, the central hub of the city. You will find Romeo wandering around near the fountain in the square. Speak with Romeo, and he will tell you about his love, Juliet, who lives in a house just south of the square. Romeo explains that Juliet’s family does not approve of their relationship and asks you to help deliver a message to her.
Accept the quest to begin your mission as a messenger between the two lovers.
Speak with Juliet
Next, head to Juliet’s house, which is located south-west of Varrock Square. Enter the house and climb the staircase to the second floor. You will find Juliet standing on the balcony.
Talk to Juliet and tell her that Romeo sent you. She will explain that her father disapproves of their relationship and that she feels trapped by her family’s expectations. Juliet asks you to speak with Father Lawrence, a priest who might know how to help the two lovers escape their situation.
Visit Father Lawrence
Father Lawrence can be found inside the Varrock Church, which is located just north-east of Juliet’s house. Enter the church and speak with him about Romeo and Juliet’s situation.
Father Lawrence will think about the problem and come up with a clever plan. He gives you a Cadava potion that will make Juliet appear dead for a short time. The idea is that Juliet will drink the potion, fool her family into believing she has died, and then secretly reunite with Romeo once she wakes up.
However, before the plan can be completed, Father Lawrence realizes that the potion is missing an ingredient: Cadava berries.
Gather Cadava Berries
Your next task is to collect Cadava berries. These berries can be found just outside Varrock’s eastern walls. Exit the city through the east gate and follow the path slightly south-east toward the river.
Near the monastery and the small forested area, you will find Cadava berry bushes. Simply interact with the bush to collect the berries. Be careful not to eat them, as they are poisonous and will deal damage to your character.
Once you have the Cadava berries in your inventory, return to Father Lawrence in Varrock Church.
Deliver the Potion
Give the Cadava berries to Father Lawrence, and he will use them to finish preparing the Cadava potion. Once the potion is ready, he will hand it to you and ask you to deliver it to Juliet.
Return to Juliet’s house and climb back upstairs to speak with her again. Give her the potion and explain the plan. Juliet will drink the potion, which should allow her to fake her death and escape her family’s control.
After this step, the quest seems close to completion—but there is one final part of the story.
Return to Romeo
Head back to Varrock Square and speak with Romeo again. Tell him about the plan and Juliet’s situation.
In classic OSRS humor, Romeo reacts dramatically and assumes the worst before hearing the full explanation. Despite the confusion, the quest will conclude once you finish the conversation with him.
Quest Rewards
Completing the Romeo & Juliet quest grants the following rewards:
5 Quest Points
While the quest does not offer experience rewards, the quest points are valuable for progressing toward larger quest requirements later in the game.
Tips for Completing the Quest Quickly
Because the Romeo & Juliet quest involves a lot of running around Varrock, here are a few tips to make it faster:
Use Varrock teleport runes if you have access to them.
Bring energy potions or lightweight gear to reduce run energy drain.
Plan your route so you minimize unnecessary trips across the city.
The entire quest can usually be completed in 10–15 minutes, making it one of the fastest quests in Old School RuneScape.
The OSRS Romeo & Juliet quest is a charming and nostalgic part of the game’s early quest lineup. While it may not provide large experience rewards, it offers a lighthearted storyline and an introduction to quest mechanics such as item gathering and NPC interaction.
For new players exploring Varrock for the first time, it is a great way to earn a few quick quest points and become familiar with one of the most important cities in the game. Whether you are a beginner or a returning veteran, helping Romeo and Juliet attempt to reunite remains one of the classic experiences in Old School RuneScape.
