OSRS Leagues 5 Raging Echoes Echo Cerberus Guide

Dec-26-2024 PST

The fifth iteration of Old School RuneScape (OSRS) Leagues, Raging Echoes, introduces an array of new bosses, items, and mechanics to challenge even the most seasoned adventurers. Among the highlights is the Dogsword, a unique and powerful weapon obtainable from the new boss, Echo Cerberus. Selling the Dogsword can yield a significant amount of OSRS GP, making it a valuable asset for your in-game economy. This guide will walk you through Echo Cerberus' mechanics and provide tips to help you emerge victorious in this battle.

Echo Cerberus Overview

Before diving into the fight, it’s essential to prepare for Echo Cerberus adequately. This boss is no pushover and is only accessible later in your Leagues 5 journey due to its high requirements:

Requirements

Level 91 Slayer: Echo Cerberus is a Slayer-exclusive boss, requiring a Hellhound task to challenge it. Using the Slayer Master relic can expedite the process of obtaining this task.

Tier 70+ Weapons: Crush or stab weapons for Melee are effective, while water spells work best for Magic.

Level 43+ Prayer: Ensure you have enough Prayer points for sustained use of protection prayers.

Supplies: Bring high-healing food and stat-boosting potions to maintain survivability and output.

If you’re new to Cerberus or its variants, brushing up on the original boss mechanics can help lay the groundwork for tackling this powerful echo boss.

Preparation Tips

For an easier time with Echo Cerberus, consider acquiring two key tools:

Total Recall Relic: This relic simplifies the fight, especially when paired with…

Thunder Khopesh: A powerful weapon from the Wilderness that significantly boosts damage output.

Both of these tools can require a substantial amount of OSRS gold to obtain, as they are highly sought after in the Leagues 5: Raging Echoes meta. Investing in these items can make the fight much more manageable and increase your overall efficiency. With these, you can often defeat Echo Cerberus before it executes its more dangerous mechanics.

Echo Cerberus’ Attacks

1. Regular Attack

Echo Cerberus primarily uses Magic-based attacks. Keep Protect from Magic active throughout the fight to minimize damage.

2. Lava Pools

Every fourth attack, Echo Cerberus will growl and spit out lava pools that create permanent hazards in the arena. These pools spawn at two opposing angles and slowly move toward you.

Counter Strategy:

Count the boss’s attacks.

On the fourth attack, step back a few tiles. This ensures the lava pools spawn away from Echo Cerberus, leaving more space to move around.

Alternatively, reposition yourself quickly to dodge the pools if you’re caught off-guard.

3. Ghosts

Similar to the original Cerberus fight, Echo Cerberus will summon ghosts during the encounter. It summons three waves of ghosts, for a total of nine. These ghosts don’t drain Prayer like the normal Cerberus variant but still require quick reflexes to mitigate damage.

Ghost Colors and Prayers:

Blue Ghost = Magic

Green Ghost = Ranged

Red Ghost = Melee

Counter Strategy:

When the ghosts spawn, flick your prayers to match their attack styles.

Be mindful of the lava pools during this phase, as dodging both hazards simultaneously can be tricky. Keep your health topped off to survive any missteps.

Step-by-Step Kill Strategy

Start Strong

Drink your stat-boosting potions and turn on Protect from Magic before entering the arena.

Maintain the Cycle

Attack Echo Cerberus and count its moves. On the fourth attack, reposition to avoid lava pools. This creates a safer area to maneuver around the arena.

Prepare for Ghosts

When Echo Cerberus howls ("aaarrrrooooo"), eat up and prepare for the ghost phase.

Flick your prayers according to the ghost’s colors, and continue damaging the boss while avoiding lava pools.

Final Push

Once the ghosts are defeated, maintain the attack-dodge cycle to finish off Echo Cerberus.

Reward: The Dogsword

Defeating Echo Cerberus rewards you with the Dogsword, a powerful and versatile weapon that will prove invaluable for tackling other challenges in Leagues 5: Raging Echoes. Its unique mechanics and high damage make it a sought-after item for adventurers.
