OSRS Fortis Colosseum

Jan-05-2024 PST

Since there are still polls going on, let us see what kind of Fortis Colosseum rewards have been finalized. What better way to start off by the guide than talking about the first ever equipable quiver in the game known as Dizana’s Quiver?

Dizana’s Quiver

Everyone was on board with the thought of bringing in a new Ranged Cape slot upgrade, especially since it is the first time ever on OSRS that the team is adding an actual Quiver for the classic OSRS feel.

rs24010502

But… What is the point of adding a Quiver that holds no arrows? You are right. Keeping that in mind, the OSRS team has come up with a plan to give it the ability to hold at least 2 types of ammo. This will allow you to automatically select the one that best suits your equipped weapon.

rs24010503

For instance, if you add Dragon Arrow and Ruby Dragon Bolts (e) to your Quiver, a TBOW will default use the arrows while a Zaryte CBOW will default use the bolts. With that, you will have a free ammo slot to hold Ghommal’s Lucky Penny or a Blessing. It can even be used for another weapon if you are switching.

When the Quiver is charged, then your ammo will gain an additional +1 Ranged Strength bonus. The OSRS team will also give players the option to Corrupt the Quiver so that it never runs out of charges (like the Faerdhinen Bow).

Unique Consumables

rs24010505

The final category is about unique consumables like Ancient Essence and Revenant Ether. They were an appealing option to add because of how much they are used and can be sold off without hurting the economy.

Without further ado, it is time to introduce a new unique consumable called Sunfire Dust, which has been positioned to be used for Sunfire Runes creation, by the Glaive of Ralos and Dizana’s Quiver. To make a consumable hold a good value, it needs to have multiple use cases within the game, therefore, as you can see Sunfire Dust will be used for these 3 things.

Sunfire Fanatic Armor

To keep things simple, the OSRS team has attempted to add the Sunfire Fanatic Armor. Even though the end waves of the Colosseum run scales to test the endurance of the PVM-ERS, they still offer something to the players in the early waves.

At first, they proposed the Fanatic set as a direct upgrade to Proselyte Armor, with better defensive and prayer bonuses. But then a whole lot of players came to suggest that the team should reserve this space for the Temple Knight questline continuation. Therefore, an alternative was proposed.

Sunfire Fanatic Armor Stats

The Fanatic Helm will grant +4 Stab, +7 Slash, +10 Crush, +4 Magic, +8 Ranged stats in the Defence line. It will drop a -1 on Magic Attack and offer a +7 Ranged Attack bonus. Besides that, there will be a +4 rise in the Prayer bonus.

rs24010508

The Fanatic Body will grant +26 Stab, +34 Slash, +36 Crush, +36 Magic, +45 Ranged stats in the Defence line. It will drop a -15 on Magic Attack and offer a +25 Ranged Attack bonus. Besides that, there will be a +6 rise in the Prayer bonus.

rs24010509

The Fanatic Legs will grant +15 Stab, +18 Slash, +22 Crush, +18 Magic, +20 Ranged stats in the Defence line. It will drop a -10 on Magic Attack and offer a +14 Ranged Attack bonus. Besides that, there will be a +5 rise in Prayer bonus.

The Alternative

Now, the OSRs team has added an alternative approach to the Sunfire Fanatic Armor that slots in as a Ranged/Prayer hybrid set. It beats the Prayer bonus of Crystal Armor and stands equivalent to the Red Dragon Hide Armor. It does come slightly below the Proselyte set in terms of raw Prayer bonus.

Other Things

Beyond the Quiver and the Sunfire set, there were not many obligations with the addition of the unique called the Glaive of Ralos, which is probably a thumbs up for adding it into the game.

Speaking of Sunfire Runes, a handful of players first started questioning how they would interact with the Tome of Fire as many who utilize Fire Spells make use of the Tome’s in-built runes to cast their spells. Therefore, the OSRS team proposed the feature to combine Sunfire Dust/Runes with Burst Pages to create Searing Pages. Therefore, allowing the Tome of Fire to grant an additional 10% minimum hit that the Sunfire offers on its own.

Gameplay

rs240105012

Fortis Colosseum is Old School RuneScape’s 3rd wave-based minigame to be added to date. It follows the footsteps of the Fight Caves and the Inferno.

rs240105013

Same as their predecessors, Fortis Colosseum is repeatable and requires high skills to clear. The end waves have some of the most challenging enemies that OSRS has to offer. Beginners can always try their hands at the early levels of the mini-game.

Also, no two Colosseum runs will be the same, so if you are thinking of creating a strategy after playing it once, then drop the plan. At the end of every round, you will get an option to alter your gameplay experience in various ways. For instance, altering terrains, de-buffing yourself, buffing enemies, etc.

rs240105014

This can be done by the selection of Modifiers which are completely randomised. What you choose will decide your faith in the rest of the Colosseum run. There will also be another choice offered at regular intervals, which is to exit the Colosseum with the loot you currently hold. So, if you want to back out, then there’s no shame in it.
