OSRS Doom Boss Guide: Release Day Basics
Jul-24-2025 PSTThe new boss Doom just dropped in Old School RuneScape, and I've been fighting it for a couple of hours now. I wanted to put together a quick guide to help you get started, especially if you're just getting off work and want to jump in.
Requirements
The only actual requirement is completing the Final Dawn quest. It's a bit long — took me about 2 hours without a guide — but with a guide, you can probably finish it in under an hour.
You don't need the three Demonbane weapons, but having them makes the fight way easier. For combat stats, 80+ across the board is fine if you're just getting started with the first few floors.
How to Get There
There are two main ways to reach Doom:
1. Mochiodal Waystones – These are currently about 400k each on the GE. It's the easiest way if you just want to get started quickly.
2. Pendant of Eights – You can use this to get to Castory, but you'll need to unlock that teleport first. Use a Quzel to get to Tail Telon, then run over to unlock Castory.
3. Once you're at the delve, there's a chest nearby with Ancient Teleporters. Pick up two and place them — one by the lift and one near the boss door — so you can quickly teleport between them.
Recommended Gear and Inventory
Range setup is preferred. Twisted Bow works best right now, especially paired with the Scorching Bow.
Bring all three Demonbane weapons.
A spec weapon like Dragon Warhammer or BGS is nice for defense reduction.
Ranging potions, Sanfew serums (to deal with venom), and Regeneration potions are all great.
Bring Saradomin brews instead of regular food for better healing.
Make sure to bring runes for Thraws, Death Charge, and Dark Demonbane (for the Purging Staff).
Don't worry if you don't have the best gear — players are using all sorts of setups, and you can scale things based on what you have.
How the Fight Works
Doom is a delve-style boss, meaning you fight through multiple floors. After each floor, you can either take your loot or keep going for better chances at unique drops. Each floor gets harder.
Main Mechanics (Floor 1)
Attack Styles: Doom uses all three combat styles. The color of his attacks shows what style is coming:
Blue = Magic
Green = Ranged
Red/Orange = Melee
Make sure to pray accordingly — the chances of success are very high if you get it right.
Boulders: Occasionally, Doom throws a big rock. When it explodes, it disables your prayers and sends out more projectiles. The look of the rock tells you what style the follow-up will be.
Charge Attack: Doom charges up, and you need to hit him with melee to stop it, or you'll take a 60+ hit. Pray mage and range while this is happening.
Grubs: These crawl toward the boss. Use your Demonbane weapons to kill them before they reach him. They heal him a little if they get there.
Shockwave: You'll see volatile orbs spawn. Hit two far apart and the second will create a bubble. Stand in it to avoid a big AoE hit.
Floor 2 and Beyond
Things start speeding up. All the above mechanics get harder.
New Shield Phase: Doom gains a shield. Hit it with Demonbane weapons to break it. You can also kill a grub near him to deal 100 shield damage.
Floor 3 and 4
Acid Pools: Floor 3 adds venom pools you need to avoid.
More Boulders: Floor 4 spawns three boulder orbs at once.
Everything becomes faster and more punishing.
The “Race Car” Phase
Doom starts charging across the room (“vroom vroom”).
He marks a line on the floor and charges through it. Move out of the way.
Later, he adds a stomp attack after charging. Hide behind debris to avoid it.
Make sure the debris doesn't get destroyed by the charge — it's your cover.
Final Thoughts
This boss is no joke — it's got a lot of mechanics and things can get hectic, but it's a fun challenge. The fight scales well as you go deeper, and the loot potential improves each floor. Jagex did a great job on launch — smooth experience with no bugs or downtime. Pay attention to RSGoldFast.com, OSRS Gold, Items services and guidance to help you complete it more easily.
If you're just starting, don't worry about perfect gear. Learn the mechanics slowly, bring what you can, and try the first couple of floors.
