OSRS has several skills that help you progress your character in different ways. These skills also help you during combat activities, as well as to earn OSRS gold. Unfortunately, the grind to level up these skills is lengthy and quite repetitive. But worry not because we have a solution to that! Yes, skilling pets, has become an integral part of OSRS skilling.

Skilling pets aren’t just visually pleasing but also showcase how long you’ve been around in the game to obtain one. Some players are lucky enough to get these pets earlier, whereas others aren’t. The message you get when you obtain a pet is “a funny feeling that you’re being followed.”, so make sure to keep an eye out for it!

Baby Chinchompa

Being one of the two potential skilling pets when you train the Hunter skill, there’s a 1 in 10,000 chance to transform this pet into a red, black, grey, or gold Chinchompa.

The chances of obtaining a color variant depend on your Hunter Level. If your hunter is level 99, then there’s a 1 in 128,920 chance to obtain a Grey Chinchompa, 1 in 95,898 for a Red, and 1 in 80,283 for a Black one.

Beaver

Beaver is obtained via the Woodcutting skill while you chop down various trees. This excludes the trees that are found within the minigames, Etceteria, Miscellania, and Tutorial Island. You can also recolor your Beaver pet with the Forestry skill. You’ll need to use a Funky Shaped Log on the pet which can be purchased from the Forestry Shop. To access the 10 different Beaver skins, you’ll need to use logs ranging from Standard to Redwood on the pet.

The best way to obtain the pet is by two-clicking the trees. Why? Because it accumulates a greater number of logs per instance. It can get quite click-intensive and tiresome, so if you want you can chop down Artic Pine trees instead as they have a 1 in 145,758 chance of obtaining the Beaver pet.

Abyssal Protector

This pet is a smaller version of the Abyssal Guardian and can be found within the Abyss. With a frown on its face and a purple, yellow square which is a reference to SpongeBob SquarePants, the Abyssal Protector is one of the two pets obtained from the Rune Crafting skill.

There’s a 1 in 4,000 chance to obtain the Abyssal Protector from the Rewards Guardian. You’ll need to participate and spend your points in the Guardians of the Rift minigame for it, wherein you must craft various Runes to subdue the Rift’s creatures.

Rock Golem

The quickest way to obtain a Rock Golem is by mining gems at the Shilo Village, Karamja. It has a base of 1 in 211,886, but the mining process is very fast. However, if you want to consider an AFKable, you can head to the Motherlode Mine.

It will cost you about 580 Golden Nuggets to obtain all the unlockable from the Motherlode Mine. This is approximately cleaning 23,500 paydirt. Once you unlock everything the mine has to offer, you’ll be left with a 1 in 11 chance to obtain the pet!

Heron

Heron can be obtained while training the Fishing skills. It only has one more form and can be unlocked after feeding it with 3,000 Spirit Flakes. This will turn the pet into the Great Blue Heron. You can always reverse it back to its original form by feeding it any raw fish.

The quickest way to obtain the pet is by two-clicking Tunas or Swordfishes. Another alternative method that’s less click-intensive is catching Karambwans (1 in 170,874 chance). If you like minigames, you can try out Fishing Trawler for a 1 in 5,000 chance. It scales up to 1 in 2,500 with a full contribution!

Tangleroot

This pet can be obtained by training the Farming skills. You can change between Tangleroot’s 6 different forms by feeding it either a Redwood Seed, White Lily Seed, Dragonfruit Seed, Guam Seed, Crystal Acorn, or Acorn.

The chances to obtain it are limited to when you check the health of the planted tree, or when you’re about to harvest the last crop. Another alternate way is by playing the Tithe Farm minigame, but that’s equivalent to 25,000 hours of gameplay. The quickest way is doing your routine farm runs and planting Belladonna, Cacti, and Hespori which has a 1 in 5,375 chance of obtaining Tangleroot.
