Old School RS: How to Complete Waterfall Quest

In this guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know about completing Waterfall Quest — from the item requirements and recommended preparation to a step-by-step walkthrough of the quest itself.

Why Complete Waterfall Quest?

Waterfall Quest is a free-to-play quest on OSRS members worlds and one of the most rewarding early-game quests for combat-focused players.

Quest Rewards:

13,750 Attack XP

13,750 Strength XP

2 Quest Points

Access to treasure hidden beneath Baxtorian Falls

If you’re starting a new account or working on a pure, this quest offers a huge advantage early on by boosting your combat stats without any training.

Waterfall Quest Requirements

Good news — there are no level or combat requirements for Waterfall Quest. However, you will need to be able to survive a short area with aggressive level 84 fire giants, so bringing food or fast clicking fingers is recommended.

Items Needed:

Rope (can be bought from the Ardougne general store or Grand Exchange)

6 Air Runes

6 Water Runes

6 Earth Runes

Recommended:

Food (for safety inside the Fire Giant cavern)

Games Necklace (for quick travel to Barbarian Outpost)

Stamina or Energy Potions (for running between locations)

How to Start Waterfall Quest

To begin the quest:

Head to Almera’s house, located just west of Baxtorian Falls, north of the Tree Gnome Stronghold.

Speak with Almera, who’ll ask you to check on her son Hudon, who’s recklessly exploring near the waterfall.

Accept the quest.

Waterfall Quest Walkthrough

Step 1: Visit Hudon

After speaking with Almera, head outside and board the log raft near the dock.

The raft will crash. You’ll find Hudon standing on a small island.

Talk to him — he refuses to leave.

Use your rope on the rock near the waterfall.

Then, use your rope again on the dead tree to climb down safely.

Important: Be cautious — falling off the ledge means respawning at Barbarian Outpost.

Step 2: Enter the Waterfall

Once safely on the ground near the waterfall’s base, head south and enter the house marked on your map.

Inside, search the bookcase to find Glarial’s Journal.

Leave and use your rope on the rock to cross back over.

Step 3: Get the Amulet and Key

Head to the Tree Gnome Village maze (southwest of the waterfall).

Navigate through the maze to find a cave entrance.

Inside, defeat the guardians or run past them.

Open the chest to retrieve Glarial’s Pebble.

Note: Don’t take any weapons, armor, or runes into Glarial’s Tomb later — you won’t be able to enter with them.

Step 4: Enter Glarial’s Tomb

Bank all combat gear and runes.

Head west of the Tree Gnome Stronghold to find Glarial’s Tomb.

Use Glarial’s Pebble to open the tomb.

Inside, search the coffin for Glarial’s Amulet.

Open the chest in the same room to find Glarial’s Urn.

Leave the tomb.

Step 5: Prepare for the Final Run

Withdraw:

Rope

Glarial’s Amulet (wear it)

Glarial’s Urn

6 Air, Water, and Earth Runes

Food and Stamina Potions if desired

Now, it’s time to head back to the waterfall.

Step 6: Explore the Waterfall Dungeon

Go to the waterfall area.

Use rope on the rock and dead tree again to climb down.

Enter the Waterfall Dungeon by using Glarial’s Amulet while opening the door.

Inside:

You’ll encounter level 84 Fire Giants — don’t fight them.

Stick to the sides and move carefully.

Step 7: Collect the Treasures

First Room:

Use your runes on the corresponding pillars:

Air Runes on the Air Pillar

Water Runes on the Water Pillar

Earth Runes on the Earth Pillar

The door to the north will open.

Second Room:

Quickly search the crate to find a key.

Run through the western passage, avoiding Fire Giants.

Treasure Room:

Use the key to open the door.

Search the chests for treasure.

Place Glarial’s Urn on the altar.

The waterfall will reveal the treasure.

Step 8: Complete the Quest

Head back to Almera’s house.

Speak with her to complete the quest.

Congratulations — you’ve finished Waterfall Quest and earned a massive experience boost!
