AFK OSRS Skills Guide in 2024

May-22-2024 PST

Among the myriad ways to train, AFK (Away From Keyboard) methods have garnered immense popularity for their efficiency and convenience. This article delves into some of the most effective AFK training methods across various skills in OSRS, as well as providing some insights and tips on maximizing your gains while you’re away from your keyboard.

Fishing AFK Spots

Across RuneScape, several fishing spots allow for prolonged AFK periods, enabling players to accumulate experience with minimal interaction.

1. Miscellania Fishing Spot

One notable spot is located on the island of Miscellania. Here, you can fish for up to 25 minutes without any interruptions. However, there’s a catch—pun intended. To continue fishing without interruptions, you need to ensure that your approval rating with the kingdom is below 100%. This can be managed by setting up a cannon in the room to the south of the fishing spot, where the cannon’s attacks will gradually reduce your approval rating as it defeats NPCs. For this spot, you will need a harpoon, and for the best experience per hour, a crystal harpoon is recommended. At high levels, you can achieve around 40k XP per hour using this method.

2. Near Prifddinas (PRI)

Another static fishing spot is located near Prifddinas, where you’re guaranteed to catch a full inventory of fish every time you click the fishing spot. At lower fishing levels, you can fish for up to five minutes before your inventory is full, whereas at higher levels, the AFK interval ranges from one to two minutes. To access this spot, you need to have started the Regicide quest and have at least level 20 fishing. This is a fly fishing spot, so you'll need a fly fishing rod and feathers. For those looking to maximize experience, the maximum XP rate here is about 55k per hour. Although not AFK, advanced players can use the three-tick method to further enhance their XP rates without ever having to move their camera angle.

AFK Combat Training

Combat skills can also be trained AFK, provided you have the right setup and gear.

1. Sakkis Boss Fight

With strong defensive armor like Justiciar and a Dragon Scimitar (DS), you can AFK the entire Sakkis boss fight, taking minimal damage while dealing substantial damage. Using a special attack weapon like the Dragon Hunter Lance (DHL) and the Death Charge spell can help you regain your special attack energy from the minions. With this method, you can achieve around 30 kills per hour at high levels. This method was popularized by Low Soul Gamers, who detailed it in a video two years ago.

2. Dark Beasts

Dark beasts are unique in that they never stop being aggressive, allowing for prolonged AFK sessions. With Guthan’s set and a blood fury amulet, you can AFK for up to 20 minutes at a time. For this method, the best location is the Iorwerth Dungeon in the southwestern part of Prifddinas. Dark beasts require a level 90 Slayer to damage, making this method suitable for advanced players. The potential reward includes a dark bow, which drops at a rate of 1 in 512 and sells for around 800k. If your combat stats are below level 90, it’s advisable to bring the blood fury for additional healing.

AFK Skill Training

Aside from combat, various non-combat skills can also be trained in AFK.

1. Blast Furnace Strength Training

At the Blast Furnace, you can train strength by operating the pump, gaining up to 12k XP per hour without gaining hit points experience. This is particularly useful for pures and special account builds. You can AFK here for 25 minutes at a time.

2. Agility Training

Agility can be trained AFK in several ways. One popular method involves using the pump at the Blast Furnace for 6k agility XP per hour. However, this method requires regular attention to restore run energy with potions. Another method, known as the player-owned house agility course, involves setting up a dungeon with traps and an aggressive ranger NPC. You can use auto-retaliate to navigate the traps and gain agility XP. This setup costs around 1.2 million GP for the necessary rooms and materials, and XP rates vary from 1k to 12k per hour depending on your level. This method allows for AFK intervals of about five minutes before needing to replenish prayer points.

3. Woodcutting

With the Tree Despawn Timer plugin on Runelite, you can effectively AFK woodcutting. The timer displays how long you have until the tree is cut down, starting when you receive the first log and stopping when the tree is finally felled. This means that even though the timer for redwoods is 4 minutes and 24 seconds, the actual AFK period is closer to five minutes.

Magic AFK Training

1. Super Splashing

This method involves casting spells on Kraken while it’s submerged, gaining the full experience for the hits. This requires level 87 Slayer and a Kraken task. Wearing an imbued Slayer helmet for the damage and accuracy boost, you can AFK here for 20 minutes at a time, achieving over 100k XP per hour with high-level spells.

Farming AFK Training

1. Chambers of Xeric

Ultimate Ironman players often struggle with farming due to inventory constraints. However, within the Chambers of Xeric, you can rake seeds and farm herbs for a semi-AFK farming experience. At level 80 farming, you can expect XP rates of 45k per hour with AFK intervals of up to three minutes.

RuneScape offers a plethora of AFK training methods across various skills, each with its own unique mechanics and requirements. These methods provide an efficient way to gain experience while allowing you to multitask or take breaks. Hope you can get more osrs goldosrs items and osrs infernal cape, happy in game.
